Well maybe not billions… Thursday morning while picking up some pot liners at San Francisco Foliage (a sweet interior wholesale plant place) I had to take a quick ipic of the bromeliads. It’s bromeliad heaven. I couldn’t even get them all in the shot. Here’s one of my favorite “Flaming Sword” Vriesea splendens with a little bud:

Here’s his Flaming Sword along with some of his plant friends:

I really love this plant. There was a girl on Haight Street who posted she was having a plant sale on craigslist in the farm/garden section. I picked it up for $5.00. Right now you can pick up a Bee Keeping outfit for $100.00. Quite a few of our indoor and outdoor plants we’ve collected have been freebies or crazy cheap. I once picked up a large shopping bag full of Graptopetalum for free in Marin. The picture below isn’t all of it. I’m not sure what variation is it, but the Graptopetalum paraguayense ‘Pinky’ on Annie’s Annuals site is sweet.

Thanks for the boost on bromeliads. Bay Area is a great place to grow a variety of plants. I have yet to make it out to Hawaii, but not that we are living on the West Coast, Hawaii no longer take 10-12 hours to fly there.
