Far Out Flora

Cactus Coolness

Sunday while messing around in the backyard I looked down and there it was. One of our cacti was blooming! I had looked at it earlier in the morning before the sun hit it, and nothing exciting was going on.

Blooming cactus, yay!

The petals are iridescent pink. I have no idea what kind of cactus it is. Maybe the experts at Cactus Jungle can help me out. I’m not even sure where it came from, but I think it might have been in a container when we moved in.

Cactus and friends

Here it is hanging out with good old Graptopetalum paraguayense and some aeoniums.

Missing garden shot

It occurred to me that I missed a shot of our back garden when I blogged about it last week. This is the oldest part of our garden. The big agave loves to attack us, but seems to really like Matti. He has the scars to prove it.
