DIY Glass Jar Terrariums was packed, and everybody had fun putting together these miniature landscapes.

I was impressed with the ideas that came out of the terrarium workshop such as this maiden in the woods…or larger than life succulents.

Most of these are put together using Sedum, baby tears, and Scottish moss.

I think I remember an old neighbor that had these exact coffee mugs.  Got to love the reusing old relics to give them new purpose.  Thanks Workshop.

Looks like this dirty little gnome has been hard at work.  I have been setting up a bunch of materials in the kitchen to see if the gnomes will come back and magically put together some more terrariums…but no luck.  The good news is that we are scheduled to teach a couple more Glass Jar Terrarium workshops soon:  Aug 15 & Aug 29.

  1. i love these little gardens… but how long can they grow in such a tiny space? thanx. bon

  2. Oh my goodness so cute! I love the one with the gnome!

  3. what cuteness! do you guys charge for your classes? what a great idea…

  4. What growing medium do you use for these terrariums? I just got some little lovelies that need new homes and I happen to have some glass containers that might work. :)

    • from the bottom up. drainage (we use horticultural sand, or pebbles..whatever we have at the time), a sprinkle of charcoal (the sort you get from a pet store…not what you BBQ with…this would help with any odor…and often we skip this), potting soil (any type of potting soil from the store…not garden soil. basically a good draining soil).
