Norfolk Island Palm is Sick

Two gorgeous days in SF before the fog set in.  I was overcome by the heat…and the coolness of this flowering Norfolk Island Palm (Rhopalostylis baueri).  From every angle it seems to take on a new shape.

Is it me…or do you see the beak and tail of an exotic bird above?  Hum…  This Norfolk Island must be the home of crazy flora.  This palm is pretty sick.  And what about my other Norfolk Is. fave…the Araucaria heterophylla (Norfolk Island Pine)?

Feeling ill?

Feeling ill?

Speaking of sick, this palm literally looks like it’s getting sick.    Hey, if you are ever in SF and want to really dig in…check out the SF Palm Society, or just head towards Dolores Park…you will see a ton of them.

  1. It does.
It looks like some exotic rooster on the first one, or some kind of lobster monster on the second one
