Westport Whale Sculpture

We’re going off topic today, but can’t resist sharing this (soon to be) road side attraction.  Outsider Artist, Carlos Amigos aka Kyle Siler, is building a ginormous whale sculpture in the little coastal town of Westport California…just along Highway 1.

Well call me Clark Griswold, but I am sucker for any type of road side attraction and strange public art…especially when it comes from the soul like this one.  He’s still in the construction stage at the moment, but man it looks like it already looks cool.  See the whole story on his blog, The Westport Whale.

You can tell this guy is always tinkering on projects.  Love his sign installation leading up the house.  Oh, and some attract Jade Plants…one of my original succulent sweethearts.

One more quick peek at the whale.  The coolest thing about this project is that he’s intending to donate any profit from this attraction to help preserve wildlife along the Pacific.  Hats off to you.

  1. What a find! It’s obsessional installations like this one that make life worth living … thanks for posting, especially the pic with the signs: ‘MAKE SHIT!’ Indeed!
