The SF Garden Show in San Mateo held Sproutopia, the kids gardens. One part diorama, two parts kids’ garden design…100% fun. Top and center is my fave, the Under the Sea Garden. Of course, I am a sucker for anything with a Crassula ovina ‘Gollum’.
I believe that the Evil Garden won 1st place (forgive me if it was not), and was a favorite for everyone that saw it. Lots of bedazzled succulents. Just to the left of those two cacti with google eyes, are my fave embellished succulents…the prickly cyclops waving their arms.
Mission Dolores (?) was well crafted. Mini pots, mini patina, & mini plants.
I would give this one the Tarantino Award. Just beyond the unicorn confronting a leprechaun…there’s was a rainbow, pot of gold, and a hot air balloon. There you have it. Next we will tackle the rest of the show, lots of great stuff this year.

Gah! I hadn’t noticed the little cyclops in the Evil Garden, fabulous! Thanks for the good pictures, we also thought the children’s mini gardens were particularly well done this year…
One of these days I’m actually going to meet you guys…consider coming down to DIG in Santa Cruz some Saturday!
