The SF Garden Show in San Mateo ended this past weekend. The kid’s Sproutopia rocked, and the pro were on their game. We wanted to point out a couple that caught our eye. Star Apple Edible Garden brought the garden to the garden show. They had a great collection of edibles, seamlessly mixed in with ornamentals and cut flowers. We have to learn more about this great group of Edible Garden designers.

Sharing the same space was Stalk Bicycles. Their crew makes sleek custom bikes…out of bamboo. Wouldn’t it be fun to show up to your local farmers market on this stylish ride?

I was excited to catch Sunset Magazine’s Test Coordinator…Johanna Silver. I have to say she is one of the most enchanting horticulturalist, spreading gardening to the masses…one person at a time. Besides finding her article on Herbal Tea Gardening in this month’s Sunset Magazine, she regularly blogs on Fresh Dirt and One Block Diet.

Quite Contrary Garden Design has a great feel including this unexpected use of a mattress bed spring.

Ah Sam Flowers had a down to earth feel, and some eclectic touches such as this metal moo moo structure.

UC Berkeley planted hanging lettuce planters in a 3D wave form.

Possibly our next must have plant, Trillium chloropetalum, a spring flowering coastal California native we found in the Golden State of Mind display. Tierra Seca Landscaping put together a fantastic layout mimicking where ocean meets beach.

Lots of vendors at the show too, and Annie’s Annuals had this stunning Linaria reticulata ‘Flamenco’. I stood in front of this plant way too long wishing Megan would bring it home.
